FOUNDER OF CHI X POP

Born and raised in Hong Kong, I observe daily that the art of tai chi is practiced by most of the elderly population in the early mornings in parks or public areas, all united in performing the same synchronized movements. However, the same cannot be said for our generation as various other styles are being favored over the art of tai chi.  By intersecting modern pop dance and Tai Chi, I aim to preserve the ancient history of Chinese culture and to transcend barriers between generations, allowing us to become more connected to one another. Moreover, not only is tai chi beneficial for our health, increasing our flexibility and strength but also improves our overall physical and emotional well-being, promoting relaxation and reducing clinical somatic symptoms.

My Story

Since a young age, I have been captivated by the world of dance, constantly exploring ways to blend different dance styles together. Witnessing the transformative power of dance firsthand, I have seen how it brings immense joy to people's lives, whether they need an escape from a rough day or simply seek a way to pass the time. Dance has a remarkable ability to enhance overall well-being and foster cultural exchange through its celebration of diversity. As a naturally positive individual driven by a desire to help others, I have come to realize that by sharing my passion through dance performances, I can offer others the opportunity to experience pure joy and create moments of happiness.  Through CHI X POP, my ultimate aspiration is to introduce more people to the captivating world of dance, particularly as the popularity of Tai Chi has gradually waned in recent times. While some may perceive Tai Chi as dull or traditional, I firmly believe that by infusing it with modern pop culture, we can breathe new life into this beautiful dance style. By incorporating elements of modern pop culture, we can create a unique and dynamic experience that resonates with individuals who may have previously overlooked Tai Chi.
